What happened to browse by year? The search interface is just not unusable. Please bring back browse by year.

if you log onto the main /home page then you can still use the old browse by band/year feature...

www.archive.org

under the "live music archive"

Thank you. I never would have found that on my own. Why is it so hidden now? I understand there's a transition going on, but why hide a feature so crucial to using the site? Don't archive.org operators use the site?

If you're going to be doing a major transition like this, you need to wait until the replacement system is production ready before you do the transition. "Our engineers are working on it" is just another way of saying "we transitioned before we were fully prepared."

Please, please, PLEASE! Put browse by year back where it's easy to find.

When viewing any band's recording in which you're interested, it's quite easy to browse by year: click the Collection link, type in the year, click "Go!".

But suppose you don't know what years are available ? One of the things I like about the page that listed number of shows by year is it was immediately obvious when new stuff showed up. For example all the bands I've been contributing shows for are from the mid 90's. But thanks to a band provided stash of dats from the band Chucklehead, we've got shows as far back as 1990. Without that by year page, you might not notice the odd years.

True! That angle has been brought up to the engineers. I don't know how things will end up shaking out though.

Might want to bookmark it, although I have no idea if it will stay put.

Thanks. Now how do I do that while viewing only shows available in mp3/ogg?
